For months, my friend Miwa has been bugging me to go to Gjelina Take Away (or as she calls it, GTA), as she works there, and claims that the food is amazing. While I didn’t physically go there today, I did get it to go (hence the name “Gjelina Take Away). I had a turkey Ruben, and sure enough it was delicious. The prominent quality lies in the turkey itself, which unlike many places (i.e. Huckleberry), it is actually freshly cut turkey breast, which gives it a very rustic and homemade feel. Furthermore, the bread (which is arguably the most important part of any sandwich), was perfect, in the sense that it didn’t overpower in anyway, yet it wasn’t just two slices of carbohydrates adding nothing to the overall feel of the sandwich. The bread and the turkey experienced equilibrium. And just in case any of you hipsters were wondering, it makes Huckleberry look second-rate.
